In direct response to requests from a number of Religious Institutes from across Canada, and for the need to give increased attention to the ethical environmental, social and governance considerations in investing, Canadian Religious Stewardship established the Fiera CRS Balanced Ethical Fund in 2015. The fund is managed by Fiera Capital and monitored by the Investment Committee of the CRS Board of Directors.
Fiera Capital is a Canadian independent asset management firm recognized for its works with over 150 Religious and charitable organizations.
Using shareholder engagement, advisory services, research and education, SHARE—the Shareholder Association for Research and Education—helps investors, including many religious investors, steward their assets in ways that contribute to positive social and environmental outcomes. SHARE has built a network of institutional investors with more than $90 billion in assets under management. With SHARE’s support, these organizations are advocating for better corporate sustainability practices, exercising their proxy voting rights responsibly, and promoting greater transparency and accountability across capital markets.
Canadian Religious Stewardship works with SHARE through its shareholder engagement program. In 2021, SHARE engaged with more than 150 companies to improve their practices on decent work, human rights, reconciliation with Indigenous people and climate change.
