Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario

Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario was created in 1998 to assume sponsorship of health organizations when religious institutes are ready to move on to other missions. Today, CHSO sponsors 21 organizations that collectively provide programs and services across the continuum of care in 10 communities across Ontario.

In its sponsorship role CHSO appoints the board members and CEO of each organization.  It also provides CHSO member organizations with tools and guidelines to ensure a certain consistency in meeting sponsor expectations; it approves any changes to member organization mission, values or philosophy and any integration, merger and major financial decisions.

CHSO member organizations continue to prioritize serving the vulnerable and those most in need – such as the poor, homeless and under-housed, refugees and new immigrants, people with chronic physical, emotional illnesses and addictions and the frail elderly.
